CBO Joins the SkyAlyne Team of Pan-Canadian Experts for the FAcT Program

SkyAlyne, a partnership between Canadian aviation and defence companies CAE and KF Aerospace, has officially unveiled its full team of strategic subcontractors. SkyAlyne is a qualified bidder for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Future Aircrew Training and Support (FAcT) program. Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) is a new program that will deliver ab initio training for military aircrew under an integrated solution consisting of the Department of National Defence (DND) and contractor-supplied training. The program aims to develop a relevant, flexible, responsive and effective aircrew training program for Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers (ACSOs) and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AES Ops) to meet future requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).

Canadian-based companies ATCO Frontec, Bluedrop Training and Simulation, Canadian Base Operators, Canadian Helicopters, PAL Aerospace and SERCO Canada add considerable expertise and experience to SkyAlyne’s bid. As industry leaders in areas such as flight simulation, aircraft maintenance and facilities and operational support, these companies combine with CAE and KF Aerospace to offer a full range of capabilities that will be needed for the RCAF’s next-generation training program.

Since 2005 CBO has been responsible for overseeing the provision of airfield and facilities management services to the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) Southport. Our cohesive relationship with KF Aerospace allows for the full integration of operational and administrative services. In addition to providing facility operations, CBO supports CFTS Southport with Safety Management Systems, Capital Upgrade Projects, Nav Canada Flight Checks, Air Show Support, and more. Air traffic services for the CFTS program for DND aircrew at Southport is provided by Midwest ATC Canada, a subsidiary of Canadian Base Operators. Aside from Nav Canada, Midwest ATC Canada is the only other company who holds an Air Traffic Services (ATS) Operations Certificate issued by Transport Canada. Together, CBO and the rest of the SkyAlyne Team will use their unmatched experience and capabilities to continue to deliver innovation to aircrew training programs in Canada.

The SkyAlyne team collectively employs more than 14,000 Canadians. SkyAlyne’s parent-companies and subcontractors operate in every region of Canada – from coast to coast to coast.

“We are pleased to officially announce our full team of experienced partners,” says SkyAlyne President Tracy Medve. “Our goal is to work with the Royal Canadian Air Force to continue providing a world-class aircrew training program built by Canadians for Canadians. This partnership will ensure this key industrial capability remains in Canada.”

As the only Canadian-founded qualified supplier competing for the FAcT Program, SkyAlyne has unique experience and expertise in military pilot and aircrew training. SkyAlyne’s parent companies currently deliver all phases of pilot training to the Royal Canadian Air Force through the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program based in Moose Jaw, SK/Cold Lake, AB, and the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) program based in Southport, MB. The subcontractors announced to the SkyAlyne team also have extensive experience working with the RCAF, currently supporting CAE and KF Aerospace on the existing programs.

SkyAlyne ensures 100% of the FAcT Program benefits will stay in Canada, helping to build Canadian small- and medium-sized businesses, organizations and local and Indigenous communities. SkyAlyne also provides the only option for a Canadian return on potential exports of the program to other militaries.
