NTPC Snare Hydro Camp
Project Description
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation operates the Snare Hydro system located 145 km northwest of Yellowknife, NT. The site is comprised of four hydro sites along the Snare River and is accessible by plane throughout the year.
The site has crew accommodations for up to 39 workers, including camp staff, at three sites. The main camp accommodates 25 workers in 18 rooms, including two rooms allocated to cooking and cleaning contractors. The Cascades house located 23 km south of the main camp accommodates six workers, in three rooms. One single worker room is located adjacent to the airstrip 15 km south of the main camp.
Role of Kipnik Inc.

Affiliated with Canadian Base Operators (CBO), Kipnik provides onsite Red Seal Chefs and Housekeepers 365 days of the year to prepare food for the NTPC workers and clean the Snare Main Camp, Cascades House and several rooms at the Air Strip Garage. In addition to our employees possessing certificates (Food Safety Certificates, WHMIS, etc.), due to the remoteness of the locale they must also carry bear safety awareness, firearms safety, and St. John’s ambulance first aid certifications.
